All Day

Description

Do I need a Statement of Trade (SOT)?

This day and age there is so much to do and so much to be across when you're organising an event, especially if you're new to trying your hand at organising. Or perhaps you're passionate about delicious mouth-watering food and wondering how to start a food business or restaurant?

Selling food and/or beverages?

Whether it be a community focused event or you're champion your own venture or event for visitors from outside the region, if you're selling food and/or beverages in Victoria you'll be familiar with the need for a Statement of Trade (SOT) if you're operating from a temporary (e.g. market stall, tent/marquee or hall) or mobile food premises.

You're SOT confirms that you have followed the correct process and helps ensure you have met your obligations under the Food Act. (Super important). Don't get scared off by this. Take some time to plan and meet all your requirements during this exciting time.

1 - You can do all this online for convenience via FoodTrader (formerly known as Streatrader). The online register for temporary and mobile food and drink vendors in Victoria. https://foodtrader.health.vic.gov.au/

2 - Ensure you have (or that the participating food vendors for your event have) submitted a FoodTrader Statement of Trade (SoT). The SoT is created via their FoodTrader account and lets local authorities know where and when you will be operating. (You don't want that last minute stress.)

3 - Have a copy of your SOT (digital or printed) on hand and provide to your event organised when applicable.

Event organisers should ask food sellers to provide you with a copy of their FoodTrader Statement of Trade (SoT) as this proves they are registered under the Victorian Food Act.
